The Miracle League of Grand Island & WNY
In June 2010, a few local residents were sitting at McMahon’s Restaurant talking about a recently discovered website, miracleleague.com. It was an instant “Ah Ha” moment. They all knew at that exact moment they needed to build Miracle League field. No one really needed to say anything; it was the tears streaming down everyone’s cheeks that said it all. They continued to meet and exchange ideas. The more people that found out about the idea, the bigger the dream became.

The group joined the national organization of the Miracle League to learn more about how to make the dream into a reality. In January 2011, the group formed the corporation Miracle League of Grand Island & Western New York, Inc. and has since received its 501 c 3 status from the Internal Revenue Service as a charitable nonprofit organization. The Grand Island Town Board was quick to support the group and offered the land to build the field. Working in cooperation with the town, many volunteers, contractors and professionals have donated their talents and time to build the field and develop the organization.

The field will be completed by the end of the summer in 2011 with an open house scheduled for September 11, 2011. Leagues will be formed and official play will begin in the Spring of 2012.

The dream has become a reality in such a short period of time with the tremendous amount of support from the community. We would like to thank all those who are participating and contributing to this wonderful organization.
